About Us
After seeing a need in the Latino and small business community for tax preparation and consulting, Raul Valdivia founded Raul Valdivia, CPA LLC in 2008 as one of the only Spanish-speaking CPA sole practitioners in the Salem area. Since then, the company has grown into Valdivia Financial Inc. and has now proudly branched into two areas of financial service: VFI Business Tax Solutions and Crossway Tax Resolution.
VFI Business Tax Solutions serves local small business owners who are ready for professional help with their tax returns but may not be ready to engage a large firm yet.
Crossway Tax Resolutions serves clients who need a helping hand engaging with the IRS over a variety of situations. Crossway stands as a bridge between our clients and the IRS and walks with them every step of the way.

Meet Our Team
Raul Valdivia
President and Founder Raul Valdivia has worked in a variety of sectors within the accounting industry. Prior to earning his CPA, he worked as a staff accountant in a non-profit that served the senior citizens of San Benito County, CA, Jovenes de Antaño, gaining a knowledge of non-profit accounting.
He then moved to Salem, Oregon, where he spent time working for a public accounting firm, growing his knowledge of simple and complex individual tax return preparations and audits. He earned his CPA while working for the State of Oregon in the Secretary of State Audits Division, where he developed his understanding of quality recordkeeping and the eye of an auditor, which serves him well as he guides his Tax Resolution clients through communications with the IRS.
He is currently Vice-Chair of the Oregon Board of Accountancy and serves as Treasurer of a local nonprofit, Valor Mentoring.
Monica Valdivia
Monica Valdivia joined Valdivia Financial Inc in 2019 after working for 11 years at Chemeketa Community College in the Business Services and Human Resources Departments. She holds Associate Degrees in Business and in Accounting, as well as a Certificate in Tax Preparation, and she is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management. She is grateful for the once in a lifetime opportunity to grow a business alongside her family.
Tim Valdivia
Tim Valdivia graduated from Chemeketa Community College with an Associate of Arts Transfer Degree and has been a staff bookkeeper with VFI since 2016. He is currently working towards his QuickBooks Pro Advisor certificate and in his spare time he enjoys reading and playing the guitar.
Tanya Drofyak
Tanya Drofyak is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting at Western Oregon University, with the ultimate goal of becoming an Enrolled Agent (EA). In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis.
Brenda Marcus
Brenda graduated from Chemeketa Community College with an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Accounting and a Certificate of Completion in Accounting and Tax Preparation. She enjoys drawing in her spare time.
Anastasia Kostromitin
Anastasia has been a staff accountant at VFI for over five years. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business with a concentration in Accounting from Western Oregon University. Anastasia is an Enrolled Agent and a Licensed Tax Consultant with the state of Oregon. She is passionate about continuous learning and is currently studying Spanish. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis and pickleball with friends.
Melinda Valdivia
Melinda Valdivia has been a staff accountant at VFI since 2020. She holds Bachelor of Science Degrees in Accounting and Business Information Systems and is currently working toward obtaining her Registered Nursing license.
